Inspired by Artist: Audrey Kawasaki

07.22.2009 by btslingerie // Leave a Comment

Like I said in my previous post about Stella Im Hultberg, I had already heard about Audrey Kawasaki through a friend’s facebook post. I immediately fell in love. She draws these haunting and ethereal (sometimes disturbing) images of young girls/women on wood! I poured over her site to see how she got the grain and the images so crisp and clear, it was fascinating. As one artist to another I was truly impressed by her rendering, fine detail, and style.

I was also so excited about the lingerie she drew in, the colors and the fit were so sweet, sultry, and sexy! It’s like an easter egg hunt for me to find images that open up my mind to new ideas. Hers will definitely do that. I think I also found it heartening that someone else was also working from their tiny apartment to create beautiful things… see her workspace below.

I just want to end with the collaboration between Audrey and Stella because I think this captures the amazing reach that the internet and social networking and the art world have created. The opportunities and possibilities are endless. I love the result of these two artist’s styles in one piece!

Most Difficult to Make – Meet the Maker Day 29

In the post about design I talked about pattern making and the process of bringing a design to life. I hand cut the lace and match/mirror the pattern and scallops have to be cut at a precise point […]

Packaging – Meet the Maker Day 28

There is something really lovely about packaging and wrapping orders to ship – smaller items get our 100% recycled and recyclable plastic mailer and larger orders are shipped in boxes with a stamped logo. Each order gets wrapped with tissue, ribbon (which I mentioned in previous post is extra runs from production of ties, straps, […]
