Back from our trip to Lilibeas and the mercury is rising and our toes are aching for a dip in the water… the perfect little tee and shorts from our frolic & play collection on the lovely Susan Coffey. xo
behind the scenes – part 3 "the pier" BTS collection shoot at Coney Island
Concluding our behind the scenes is bittersweet… because there are months left in winter until we can live out the fantasy of this endless summer love dreamed up and brought to life in our SS11 lookbook.
To capture the mood perhaps one redhead that inspires us can sing it best, Florence and the Machine’s “Cosmic Love” just about says it all… that feeling of summer love that shoots you through the heart, its what gets us through the long winter months. Thinking and dreaming about those steamy summer nights to come even as literally tons of snow fall outside our window. The East Coast’s shores are all shuttered and snowed in for now, but let this summer romance steam up as we head from the amusement park to the pier, where we’re sure many of you has experienced a lustful summer kiss beneath the sun or the moon. Lets agree to wait with bated breathe for the summer to return, and to release a collective sigh of ectasy and not complain as that first heat wave hits us after a long, cold winter (and all we can say is we hope you’ve been staying warm between the sheets).
With Valentine’s day just around the corner take a little moment to show her you love her, we’ll be posting updates on valentine’s promotions and delivery deadlines (just some friendly little reminders). We won’t keep cupid waiting any longer, click play and let Florence’s voice carry you til sunset with the final set of images from behind the scenes of our spring/summer 2011 shoot…
sweet dreams

we made our list of looks and we checked it many times to make sure we had it all right, ps laparis and I did not plan this embroidered bohemian look but what can we say, great minds think alike…

perhaps my favorite location of the day… under the pier, oh yeah!

preparing the sand to write a love note…

we may have left our hearts on the beach, our names written in the sand, to be swept and blown away… but we will never forget those summer days
behind the scenes – part 2 "the park" BTS collection shoot at Coney Island
What we love about Coney Island, and what reminds me personally of my time in California is the freak show and the gritiness of it all. Venice beach is similar in that it has a grit behind the sun and the sand, something is just a bit off, but in a good way. Sometimes twisted things yield something beautiful, and we hope our photoshoot did… ps. we tried to shoot in front of the freak show where they had a stage but they weren’t too friendly, we did get some great shots of the wall paintings off to the side, it wasn’t the shot we were hoping for but let us know what you think!
At this point in the shoot it was well into the afternoon and we have moved now to the amusement park, I’m sure you can picture the crowds and the potential hazards to a photograph. Some were cute like a little girl that came and tried to pose next to Susan as she modeled… we might share that later in a follow up post along with some more amusing moments caught by Josh as he captured the craziness behind the scenes of this photoshoot… grab some cotton candy and settle in for part 2 of Between the Sheets Collections shoot with Insuh yoon and Susan Coffey.

Kind of wish we had a shot just like this with just susan, her hands make an adorable heart!

We were aiming to get a shot with susan and the infamous cyclone at it’s peak… easier said than done, when it was up maybe there were people walking by, then maybe a cloud, and then a car… it was the middle of the day after all. The final shot was pretty fabulous actually…

insuh and I checking shots to see if we caught the roller coaster in the background

The gates in front of the park are huge and crowded, a beautiful still behind the scenes of that shot

Layla and Charlie holding our infamous changing station we referred to in our first behind the scenes post … and yes, Susan is changing in there
