[On the opening weekend of the highline with BTSguy and some friends we took a trip to the Highline. I had been mentioning this for about two years to the response “The what?!” click here to visit their site for the most up to date information.
Going to school and living in Chelsea I used to take many walks to the Meatpacking district and the Chelsea Market. It’s actually where me and the guy had our first date! (more to be posted on that in the future) Well on those walks I used to look up and find this elevated track a mystery. Then I heard the rumor, that they were turning it into a park. I’ve been waiting for it to open ever since!
Right now it extends only up to about 23rd or 24th street, from it’s start on Gansevoort st right below 14th. It runs a couple blocks in from the water and the west side highway, and it boasts an amazing view. the meatpacking district already had a lot going for it… now imagine an amazing place to eat outside during the summer! So jealous.
I think the design and the way it integrates into the city is unique and modern. The opening weekend was packed.
I love living in New York and all the incredible sights, sounds, and inspirations that this city provides. The highline will be a place I frequently visit for a cup of coffee on the weekend. I’ll write another post soon about all the yummy things you can find in the chelsea market to take with you on your trip to the highline! I love the Empire State Building in the back of this view.
